Cambodia

I decided on my last week of vacation to travel to Siam Rep, Cambodia. I figured since I was in the area, it would make sense for me to take advantage to travel to another country. I originally thought Bali, but the flight was too long and I wouldn't have enough time to enjoy Bali. Camodia was a quick three hour flight and the price was right. I found an AirBNB for $20.00 a night, booked my stay, purchased my flight and I was set.

Arriving to Cambodia was the easy part, getting through Immigration was a whole other story. They have a dislike for Americans, at least that was the vibe I got. I won't get into details, but the welcome was not expected nor warranted.

After getting through immigration and paying $32.00 for a visa that was good for a month (no thanks) I grabbed my luggage and waited for my ride. 

It was a Tuk Tuk and the host of my airBNB host that came to pick me up. My AirBNB was a small house and unfortunately no Air Conditioning which turned out to be a huge necessity.But I made the best of it.

My first day in Cambodia I decided to visit the National Museum of Siam Rep, since my intentions were to visit Angkor Wat and the other temples there I figured it would make sense to get a better understanding by visiting the Museum.

To say it was overwhelming is an understatement. So much history and so very interesting. Here are some photos of my visit:

Labor Day weekend!

I got lucky with my time in the Philippines, during my time there, Labor day weekend came up. So I took that opportunity to travel to another part of the Philippines. Another beautiful part of their county is Palawn. I made the effort to travel to Coron. My intentions were to get away from everyone and people really, and I found the perfect place to do that. I just needed time to re-evaluate a lot of personal things and read a great book that a good friend recommended "Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself" by Joe Dizpenza. Great book and a work in progress to say the least.

In any case I decided to stay at a hotel called "El Rio y Mar"  . The flight was only 45 minutes, landing in Coron was pretty cool. It's a very small airport, I didn't have to wait long for my ride as they were waiting for me. The one thing that you notice immediately is that their roads are all dirt and essentially it becomes an off roading trip. After about 40 minutes in the van, we get to a pier where there is a boat waiting for me....it's a river that we are on and I realize I am surrounded by mangroves, very cool!

I kept waking up early, so I got to catch a couple of sunrises. Here are some shots from those early mornings.

On my last night, I took some night shots. The Sky was so clear and filled with beautiful stars, unfortunately I could not capture much.

One of the highlights of my trip to Borocay was going to Puka Beach, it was so peaceful and free of tourist. It was quiet and only locals seem to go to this beach.
